This requires that you be a motivated problem solver. Sales, financial or business background desirable but not essential. Complete training and mentor programs are provided to select individuals.

This is a commission only position and you must have or attain a California Real Estate Salesperson License. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to support themselves during the start-up phase, generally four to six months.

Career Opportunity Questions

Do I need any license?
Yes, a real estate license is required in California within three months of joining. We recommend home-study schools because they are quick and inexpensive.

How long is the training?
The mentor period is generally three months, the classroom training is five days and thereafter, ongoing.

How does the mentor program work?
The new associate partners with a senior associate ( with years of experience) and shares the work and commissions on a 50/50 basis.

Are there any costs?
Yes. Elite Business Brokers pays for operational expenses such as phone, Internet access, limited secretarial support and supplies. Associates are responsible for business cards, automobile costs, supplemental advertising, etc. In addition, a new associate pays licensing, school fees and is encouraged and might be required to join CABB (California Association of Business Brokers).

How long will it take before I close my first transaction?
Generally four to six months.

How much money does the average person make?
There is no average. Our top associates earn in excess of $500,000/year. A few fail and the rest fall in between at their personal income comfort level. Most associates earn more each successive year.

How is the commission divided?
The associate gets from 50% to 80% of the gross selling or listing commission based on his or her prior twelve month performance. For highly experienced agents, please ask about our 90%and 100% commission programs

What are the qualities of a successful business broker?
In probable order of importance they are:
1.People skills, including communication, empathy and listening abilities
2.Ability to work both as a team member and independently, to prioritize tasks and clients
3.Background and experience. Only one or two of our associates had prior business brokerage experience before joining. Common backgrounds are prior business ownership, professional sales and financial.
